How the Squishy World Works

How the Squishy World Works

You make everything better with a cuddle, not a fight.

The one gentle rule of the Squishy World: softness wins. Nobody is scary, nothing is sharp, and every worry gets smaller after a hug. Squishy friends help each other by being warm, patient, and snuggly.

ExampleWhen a friend feels wobbly, you don't shout — you give a soft squeeze, and the wobble melts away.

Jelly — a starting sketch

The Squishy Friends

A jelly-soft, wobbly friend. A seed character for Charlotte to name and grow.

A starting sketch for the Squishy cast: a jelly-soft friend who wobbles and shimmers and is the snuggliest of all. Jelly is a placeholder name — Charlotte will decide who this friend really is.

ExampleJelly wobbles over for a cuddle and settles in like the warmest little pillow.

Marsh — a starting sketch

The Squishy Friends

A marshmallow-soft friend. A seed character for Charlotte to name and grow.

A starting sketch for the Squishy cast: a marshmallow-soft friend, squishy and sweet and a little bouncy. Marsh is a placeholder name — Charlotte will decide who this friend really is.

ExampleGive Marsh a squeeze and they bounce right back, giggling.

Marshmallow Meadow

The Soft Places

A soft field where the ground bounces and the flowers are squishy.

A wide, gentle field where the ground is springy as a marshmallow and every flower is soft to the touch. The squishy friends come here to bounce, roll, and watch the clouds.

ExampleOut in the Marshmallow Meadow, one little hop sends you bouncing twice as high.

Rarity, and the Book

How the Squishy World Works

Squishies come common, rare, super, and mythic — and rare finds get written into this book.

Every squishy in the game has a rarity: common friends you meet all the time, rare and super friends who visit less often, and mythic friends who almost never appear. The rule of the Squishy World is that a rare find is never lost: when one turns up, it is written into this book — defined, with its story — for future reference. The game is where friends are found; the book is where they are kept.

ExampleA mythic unicorn appears once in a hundred plays — so Stardust has a page here, and she always will.

Stardust — a mythic find

The Squishy Friends

A rainbow sparkle unicorn who can fly — the rarest kind of squishy there is.

Stardust is a mythic squishy: a rainbow sparkle unicorn who can fly, glowing and dusted with sprinkles. Mythic is the rarest tier in the game, so meeting her is a whole event — and that is exactly why she has a page here. Found in the game, kept in the book.

ExampleThe screen goes sparkly, a unicorn drifts down — that's Stardust, and now she lives in the book too.

The Legends — Ember, Marina, Cinder

The Squishy Friends

The mythic family: a baby dragon, a mermaid, and a little phoenix.

The Legends are the game's mythic family: Ember, a baby dragon with warm wishes; Marina, a sea song from the deep; and Cinder, a little flame born again. Pip, a tiny golden herald, announces them. They almost never appear — which is why each one has a page here, kept for future reference.

ExampleMeet Ember once and you will not forget it — and neither will the book.

The Pillow Fort

The Soft Places

Where the squishy friends gather, all pillows and soft light.

The gathering place of the Squishy World: a fort built entirely of pillows, blankets, and soft golden light. Everyone is welcome, and there is always room for one more.

ExampleWhen the day winds down, every squishy friend tumbles into the Pillow Fort together.

The Squishy World

How the Squishy World Works

A cozy, pastel realm of plush friends — Charlotte's newest domain.

The second domain of Charlotte's World of Imagination, a soft sibling to the Hello Kitty World. It is a cozy, pastel place full of plush, squishable creatures, and it runs on softness, comfort, and a warm hug. It is brand new — Charlotte is still dreaming it up, so much of it is yet to come.

ExampleStep into the Squishy World, give a friend a gentle squeeze, and everything feels a little softer.

The Squishy World Game — live in the Break Room

The Games

The squishy-collecting game, real and playable in the Break Room arcade.

The Squishy World's own game, live in the Break Room arcade. You meet squishies of every kind — fruit friends, dumplings, ice cubes, glowing bulbs, whole families from the tidepool to the garden — and the rarer a friend is, the more special the meeting. When a rare one turns up, it gets written into this book so it is never forgotten.

ExamplePlay a round in the Break Room, meet a rare squishy, then come back here and find it in the book.

Warm Blanket Cove

The Soft Places

The coziest corner of all, for when a friend needs comfort.

A snug little cove wrapped in the warmest blanket in the whole world. It is where a squishy friend goes when they feel wobbly or sad, and where the others come to cuddle them better.

ExampleWhen Jelly felt blue, everyone met at the Warm Blanket Cove for one big group hug.
